Change of Regulator

Since January 2005 Insurance Brokers have been authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), but this is soon to change.

From 01 April 2013, the FSA is being abolished and replaced by two new regulatory bodies, the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

Insurance Brokers now fall under the jurisdiction of the FCA, and you can verify that we remain authorised by visiting their website and searching using our Firm Reference Number which is 303990.

The FCA supervises the conduct of 26,000 financial firms. Their aim is to provide innovation and healthy competition between brokers, to ensure we keep to the rules and maintain high conduct standards.

Supervision can vary from firm to firm dependant on size and nature of business, but this could include

  • regular conduct assessment
  • monitoring products and other issues to ensure we “play fair” and don’t compromise consumer interests
  • responding quickly and decisively to events or problems that threaten the integrity of the industry
  • ensuring firms compensate consumers when necessary

Darwin Clayton remains committed to putting our customers’ interests first, and treating all our customers fairly.
