Pension Reform - Auto Enrolment.

Pension Auto enrolment will affect all employers. Although for some this will not be until 2015 or beyond; larger employers will have been operating under the new system since October of last year.

The staging date, which is the date that you as an employer has to comply with auto enrolment, is determined by the number of employees in your PAYE scheme as at 01 April 2012

The immediate challenge for employers will be the huge administration burden and hidden costs auto enrolment will create, examples as follows :-

  • ensuring that all eligible workers are enrolled into the scheme
  • amending contracts of employment to permit auto enrolment
  • investing in new systems and procedures to manage the auto enrolment process
