For over 23 years, Sharon Worster has been a valuable member of the Darwin Clayton Account Executive team. We had an opportunity to sit down with Sharon to learn more about her and her long-standing career in the insurance industry.
How did you get started in the insurance industry, and what attracted you to insurance?
I started working in private healthcare over 30 years ago, but when a position for an Account Executive opened at Darwin Clayton, I was attracted to the challenges that come with Liability Insurance, and the ability to provide tailored solutions for our clients.
What do you enjoy most about working at Darwin Clayton?
Having been working at Darwin Clayton for over 23 years, and many of us have been here for a very long time, it truly feels like a family. We are all very supportive of each other and the flexibility we offer is also unmatched in other roles I’ve had, which makes it a really rewarding place to work.
What are the biggest challenges and rewards in your current position?
It involves finding solutions for complicated requirements and overcoming economic issues like rate increases. But the true reward comes when we have met our client’s needs, and they know they can trust us. There is no greater satisfaction than knowing that you’ve made a positive impact on their business.
What skills do you consider essential for success in your role?
Listening to my clients requirements, being empathetic and always trying to be enthusiastic. Teamwork and communication are key. Building strong relationships with our clients is at the heart of everything we do.
Are there any areas of expertise you are particularly passionate about?
I thrive on the excitement of securing new business and always feel a surge of pride when I am able to offer effective Insurance solutions to new clients. At the same time, I am equally focused on maintaining good relationships and trust with my existing customers.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Are there any hobbies or passions you pursue?
I am a football and dance mum, so that takes up a lot of time! Aside from that, I love nothing more than socialising with my friends and enjoying good food and drinks.
Are you involved in any community or volunteer activities?
I am actively involved in supporting my daughter’s school PTA and I love getting involved in various local community events.
What are your long-term career aspirations?
My long-term goal is to continue to be a key part of the Darwin Clayton team with the wider Jensten Group while developing my role wherever possible.
Sharon’s commitment to clients, her team and her community shines through in everything she does. Her passion for building relationships and her wealth of experience in the insurance industry make her irreplaceable to Darwin Clayton, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for Sharon at Darwin Clayton.
