Lewis’s journey into the insurance industry began unexpectedly, evolving into a rewarding career at Darwin Clayton, where he has become a trusted and experienced member of our team.
How did you get started in the insurance industry, and what attracted you to insurance?
Like many people, my encounter with the insurance industry was unplanned. I started working at a small brokerage in Sussex, initially seeing it as just a job. Over time, I discovered how dynamic and interesting this job can be, leading to my long-term commitment.
What do you enjoy most about working at Darwin Clayton?
What I enjoy most about working at Darwin Clayton is flexibility and trust.
What are the biggest challenges and rewards in your current position?
The biggest challenges in my current position include managing client expectations, compliance, time pressures.
However, the rewards outweigh these challenges– acknowledgement from clients, trust and enduring relationships are incredibly fulfilling.
What skills do you consider essential for success in your role?
It’s a combination of key skills. Communication, time management, teamwork, understanding clients demands and needs, and highlighting areas they should be concerned with. These skills enable me to deliver great service and build lasting relationships.
Are there any areas of expertise you are particularly passionate about?
I am particularly passionate about fostering trust and authenticity in every aspect of my work.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or passions you pursue?
Playing music (although not presently), listening to music, going to concerts…. anything musical really. I went to the opera for the first time this year at Glyndebourne, but also recently went to see Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab singer) in a tiny venue in Brighton.
I am a big fun of local football (Lewes FC). I also run to keep fit and currently use a personal trainer once a week. Of course, I balance that with my love for food, drinks, and a great book. Hence the personal trainer.
Lewis is a trusted member of the Darwin Clayton team who is truly passionate and dedicated to his insurance career. His ability to blend professional life and a vibrant personal life makes him an inspiring colleague and we are proud to have Lewis in our team.
